GORE-TEX membrane

The GORE-TEX membrane is at the heart of GORE-TEX products. It is permanently waterproof, completely windproof, and highly breathable.

• Water cannot penetrate from the outside
• Wind is kept out
• Sweat can escape to the outside unhindered

This means that GORE-TEX products keep the body dry and comfortably warm at all times.

The material has more than 1.4 billion micropores per square centimeter. These pores are 20,000 times smaller than a drop of water, but 700 times larger than a water vapor molecule. A grease-repellent protective layer on the membrane ensures permanent waterproofing and prevents body oils or insect repellents from penetrating.

3-layer construction

3-layer GORE-TEX products are made of extremely lightweight material that can be packed small to fit in any tank bag, backpack, or bag. The clothing is extremely breathable, permanently waterproof, completely windproof, and characterized by its low weight. This technology combines a GORE-TEX membrane with a special protective layer. This material is used to make a separate 3-layer GORE-TEX jacket/pants. Together with an outer jacket/pants, this creates an optimal combination.

The main comfort advantages:

• The separate GORE-TEX 3-layer technology jacket/pants can be worn either over or under the outer jacket/pants. When worn over the outer jacket/pants, the outer jacket/pants remain protected from moisture and dirt.
• Quick response to weather changes by simply pulling the GORE-TEX 3-layer technology jacket/pants over the outer clothing.
• Flexible use of the membrane in hot or cold weather. Direct ventilation of the body when using the outer jacket/pants alone.
• Low weight and pack size of GORE-TEX 3-layer technology clothing.

Clothing made from 3-layer GORE-TEX laminate offers increased durability without additional capacity. Fewer layers of clothing mean reduced weight and greater freedom of movement. A special GORE-TEX membrane is firmly bonded to various outer materials and an inner lining to form a single layer.
