When you received your airbag vest/clothing

Alpinestars' lightest standalone airbag system, Stella Tech-Air® 3 v2, is designed to be worn over or under a motorcycle jacket, making it the effective and practical choice for touring riders, urban commuters, and light off-road adventure riders. The Stella Tech-Air® 3 v2 features an ergonomically optimized, women's-specific fit with a tailored cut for increased comfort. The Stella Tech-Air® 3 v2 Airbag System is now also user-friendly, allowing riders to replace the gas cartridges themselves after an airbag deployment.

Alpinestars' crash detection algorithm has been developed and refined using millions of miles of riding data and thousands of accidents, enabling the system to accurately assess when the airbag should be deployed to prevent an impact or other dangerous situation such as a low-side or high-side crash. When the Stella Tech-Air® 3 v2 detects the onset of an accident, the system inflates the protective airbag in 50 milliseconds. In the event of a direct impact between the motorcycle and another vehicle or obstacle, the Stella Tech-Air® 3 v2 system is effective for the “first impact*,” which means that the system inflates before it hits the vehicle or obstacle with which the motorcycle will have direct contact. The “first impact” test was performed in accordance with the Dolomiticert protocol, in which the airbag was tested within a speed range of 25 to 63 km/h. With a water-repellent main chassis and a waterproof ECU and electronics, the slim, self-contained system can also be worn under a motorcycle jacket, including an Alpinestars Tech-Air® Ready jacket or any leather or textile jacket, provided the jacket offers sufficient space to allow the airbag to inflate. The Stella Tech-Air® 3 v2 will allow riders to enjoy their daily commute even more, knowing they are protected.

Features

• A fully self-contained system, Stella Tech-Air® 3 v2 does not require any external connections or sensors on the motorcycle for the system to operate. Tech-Air® 3 is a fully autonomous active airbag system
• Stella Tech-Air® 3 v2 incorporates 6 integrated sensors (3 accelerometers, 3 gyroscopes or 1 tri-axial gyroscope and 1 tri-axial accelerometer) to provide the best crash monitoring performance in a variety of dynamic riding situations
• The Stella Tech-Air® 3 v2 Airbag System activates automatically via the magnetic zip closure
• An LED display on the front chest continuously indicates the airbag’s operational status. The LED display also incorporates a haptic alert, which vibrates to confirm the system is armed and alerts the rider when the battery is running low
• Incorporates Alpinestars’ Pro 2nd Generation compact Electronic Control Unit (ECU) embedded in the upper back cover
• Stella Tech-Air® 3 v2 uses the Tech-Air® 5 STREET algorithm which provides active protection in street riding scenarios and a variety of riding conditions, even when stopped
• Upgradable system firmware, accessible via the Tech-Air® App
• Bluetooth low energy (BLE 5.0) connectivity with the Tech-Air® App shows the system’s status, the battery status and riding data
• The integrated certified lithium ion battery has a battery life of 40 hours and a recharge time of approximately four hours

Construction

• Water resistant main chassis for effective wet weather performance
• Packable design means the system can be stored in a backpack or under a bike’s seat when not in use
• Equipped with a diagonal zipper to provide complete front chest coverage while also concealing the inner airbag
• The magnetic zip closure has been designed for ease of use and for ensuring a secure closure system to the airbag garment
• An internal magnetic button facilitates easy positioning of the airbag across the chest when riding
• Strategically positioned stretch panels on both sides of the abdomen to accommodate the expansion of the airbag in the event of a crash
• Perforated back zone for superior breathability, with internal air channels for enhanced airflow
• Integrated back protector pocket on the back to house any additional passive back protection
• Also available in a Stella version, complete with an ergonomically engineered women’s optimized fit
• The canister housing, electronic wiring, and the airbag are easily removable, allowing the chassis to be washed

Protection

• Full chest and full back Protection from the airbag is Category II Certified to the 425/2017/EEC European Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Regulation, according to relevant part of EN1621-4:2013 airbag certification standard, which guarantees an impact protection performance of not less than five seconds after the activation
• Impact protective garment 17092 Class C (outer garment), with the outer shell constructed from water resistant material
• Performance tested according to DOLOMITICERT S.c.a.r.l. M.115.001 Protocol for Airbag Protectors Rev.4_14 10 2018
• Tech-Air®’s ECU seal-protection ensures all-weather performance and is certified to function between -20 °C and +40 °C
• The Argon inflator cartridge is certified to ISO26263, confirming compliance with the safety standard and certifying that the cartridges can be safely handled and serviced
