COVA - Carbon On View & Aramid

The Carbon On View & Aramid helmet shell combines two high-performance materials with clearly defined functions. Visible carbon ensures maximum rigidity with minimum weight. The fiber structure remains deliberately open and is only sealed to prevent the material properties from being distorted by thick layers of paint.

Carbon alone is extremely rigid, but can react brittle under point loads. This is exactly where aramid comes into play. The tough, high-performance fiber has a crack-inhibiting effect, distributes impact energy over a larger area, and prevents abrupt failure of the shell. The result is controlled deformation instead of sudden breakage.

The combination of both materials creates a hybrid helmet shell that:

Adaptive Aero System (AAS)

FIM 02

FIM 02 not only measures how well a helmet can withstand an impact, but also how cleanly it dissipates energy, how well it protects the head from rotational movements, and how stable the outer shape remains at extreme speeds. Racing helmets are thus treated more like high-performance components than normal protective equipment.

1. Higher impact absorption requirements

The standard tests different impact points at different speeds and requires lower acceleration values, which means less stress on the brain. The tolerance is tighter than with ECE 22.06 or Snell.

2. Significantly stricter rotational energy tests

Rotational forces are a major problem in brain injuries. FIM 02 measures these forces more accurately and allows less residual rotation. This puts greater focus on systems such as sliding layers, low-friction interior structures, and optimized outer shells.
