De Tour-X5 is een volledig opnieuw ontworpen helm met veel nieuwe functies. Zoals bij alle Arai-producten staat bescherming voorop bij elke verbetering. En dit nieuwe model brengt ons steeds dichter bij de ideale Arai-vorm voor rijdersbescherming.
Eén van de meest ingrijpende veranderingen is het viziersysteem. Het nieuwe VAS-A viziersysteem is afgeleid van het VAS-V systeem dat is ontwikkeld voor de RX-7V. Het optimaliseert het glijvermogen omdat het meer oppervlakte biedt voor de dissipatie van impactenergie. Tegelijkertijd is het gemakkelijker om het vizier en de klep aan te brengen en te verwijderen. Het vizier is opnieuw ontworpen om het gezichtsveld en het glijvermogen te verbeteren. Het is nu een Max Vision-vizier zodat een Pinlock-inzetstuk gemakkelijk kan worden geïnstalleerd. Het nieuwe VAS-A viziersysteem maakt het ook makkelijker om zonder gereedschap te wisselen naar een van de andere vizieren. Andere verbeteringen zijn onder andere een compleet nieuw ventilatiesysteem. Het ventilatiesysteem van de Tour-X5 is het tweede model dat is uitgerust met het 3D-logokanaal, dat al werd geïntroduceerd op de Quantic. Met de nieuwe AR Spoiler en de nieuwste Delta Duct versie "Delta Duct 6" heeft de Tour-X5 ook een compleet nieuw kinventilatiesysteem. Het ventilatiesysteem van de Tour-X5 zorgt voor voldoende luchtstroom om je in alle situaties koel te houden. De binnenste ventilatieopening kan extra lucht naar de mond of het vizier leiden om beslaan te voorkomen. Zoals bij alle Arai-modellen zijn ventilatie-elementen zoals het 3D logokanaal, de AR-spoiler en Delta Duct 6 ontworpen om af te breken bij een impact, zodat ze optimaal kunnen wegglijden.
De binnenvoering kan volledig worden verwijderd en is voorzien van een verstelbare pad aan de achterkant van de kroonvulling. Een nieuw ontworpen winddeflector op de neus maakt het makkelijker om de bril te dragen. De FCS wangpads zorgen voor een stevige pasvorm op en naast de weg.

Shell constructie: PB-CLC2
De complexe laminaatconstructie verhoogt de sterkte en flexibiliteit van de schaal terwijl het gewicht laag en het zwaartepunt laag blijft. Deze band bevindt zich boven de oogopening en maakt het gebruik van een dunnere EPS-voering mogelijk. Dit verbetert het gezichtsveld naar boven aanzienlijk. Door gebruik te maken van een speciaal ontwikkelde “mechanisch geëxpandeerde glasvezelmat" tussen de binnenste en buitenste lagen van Arai's eigen supervezel laminaten, worden deze twee supervezellagen versterkt en met elkaar verbonden zonder de helm significant zwaarder te maken. De nieuwste Z-Mixture harsen verhogen de materiaalhechting, zodat er minder hars nodig is voor een sterkere verbinding tussen de materialen. De helmschaal wordt dunner en lichter.
Variabel assysteem A (A/VAS-A)
Het nieuwe viziersysteem maakt het makkelijker en sneller om het vizier te verwisselen. Het vizier kan zonder gereedschap worden aangebracht of verwijderd. Het vizier wordt gemonteerd of verwijderd met slechts één schroef aan elke kant. Bij het VAS is de vizierbevestiging verlaagd, waardoor het gladde schaaloppervlak in beide slaapzones ongeveer 10 mm groter is. Hierdoor wordt de ideale, gladdere vorm bereikt, wat het glijvermogen vergroot. Het vizier volgt de lijn van de oogopening op de helmschaal en heeft een doorlopende kromming. Het resultaat is een groter en duidelijker gezichtsveld. De radius van het vizier past zich aan de vorm van de helm aan en zorgt voor een beter glijvermogen.
Pinlock
Pinlock vizieren van Arai voorkomen dat het gezichtsveld beslaat tijdens het rijden. Het Pinlock-glas wordt aangebracht op een compatibel vizier, waar het een ultradun dubbel glas creëert.
3 configuraties
U kunt tijdens het rijden kiezen tussen de instellingen Adventure (lange afstand), Off-Road (off-road) en On-Road (weg). Er zijn geen extra onderdelen nodig voor de verandering. Een opener gezichtsveld maakt het makkelijker om een bril te dragen.
10 mm bredere basis
De exclusieve helmschaal is aan elke kant 5 mm breder gemaakt. Daardoor is de helm aan de onderkant 10 mm breder en kan hij gemakkelijker op- en afgezet worden.3D Arai logokanaal
Het nieuwe, slechts 3,5 mm grote 3D Arai-logokanaal springt meteen in het oog en voorziet twee centrale 10 mm grote inlaatopeningen aan de onderkant. Dit is de eerste keer dat dit kanaal op een Arai-helm wordt gebruikt en het is alleen mogelijk door de dikte en constructie van de PB-CLC2 helmschaal. Het werkt ook heel goed bij lage snelheden en in een rechtop zittende positie. Bij slechts 50 km/u zorgt het voor een extra luchtstroom van 40%, bij 120 km/u is dat 7% vergeleken met modellen zonder dit kanaal. Het kan gemakkelijk worden geopend of gesloten met zomer- of winterhandschoenen met behulp van een korte hendel aan de bovenkant. Als de rijder de hendel niet kan zien en het logo in zijn normale positie staat, is het kanaal open. Het logokanaal van Arai is ontworpen om los te laten bij een impact om de slide-off prestaties te verbeteren.
Medium bovenventilatie - inlaat
Lage hoogte met verbeterde luchtstroom. Bij een impact breekt deze middenventilatieopening af om het glide-off vermogen niet aan te tasten. Het kanaal is een grote verbetering zonder afbreuk te doen aan het karakter van een Arai-helm. Het bovenste ventilatiegat heeft drie standen - dicht, halfopen en open - om de luchtstroom aan te passen en te voorkomen dat er water binnendringt als het gesloten is.
Nekventiel
Stuurt warme en muffe lucht uit de helm. Tegelijkertijd zorgt dit voor een verhoogde luchtstroom in het onderste deel van de helm.
Achter ventilatie/spoiler
De achterventilatie is geïntegreerd in de spoiler en wordt bediend met een 3-weg schuifknop. De spoiler is geïnspireerd op de DF-X2 van de RX-7V Racing, maar is opnieuw ontworpen voor touring-gebruik. (Desondanks getest in Suzuka tot 300 km/u!) De spoiler zit iets verder naar voren op de kuip, de ventilatie wordt gevoed vanuit 3 aansluitingen in de kuip. Als onderdeel van het Quantic's uitgebreide ventilatiesysteem zuigt het niet alleen efficiënt lucht aan, de spoiler egaliseert ook de luchtstroom over (en van de zijkant van) de helm, wat de stabiliteit verbetert en het stuiteren vermindert, vooral tijdens inhaalmanoeuvres op snelwegsnelheden. Het resultaat: aanzienlijk minder vermoeidheid voor de rijder. De vent/spoiler combinatie is ontworpen om zo dun en licht mogelijk te zijn, zodat deze bij een botsing wordt platgedrukt of afbreekt en dus geen invloed heeft op de beschermende prestaties.
Luchtverspreiders voor het bovenste achterkanaal
De luchtdoorlatende middenstijl van het bovenste achterkanaal dient ook als goggle strap houder. De luchtroosters kunnen snel en eenvoudig worden verwijderd of vervangen door één schroef op de centrale beugel van het achterste kanaal los te draaien.
Zijkant openingen
Extra ventilatieopeningen aan de zijkant in het onderste deel van de helm verwijderen warme en muffe lucht uit de helm. Deze openingen zijn geïntegreerd in de schaalconstructie en aerodynamisch geoptimaliseerd. Een slim geplaatste laag speciaal schuim aan de binnenkant vermindert windgeruis zonder afbreuk te doen aan de ventilatieprestaties.Dubbele-D sluiting
De platte dubbel-D sluiting past zich voorzichtig aan het hoofd van de gebruiker aan zonder in de weg te zitten. Geen bewegende delen, niet gevoelig voor roest, een kinband die altijd goed aansluit en de onmogelijkheid om hem zelf te openen zijn overtuigende argumenten ten gunste van dit type sluiting.
Noodontgrendelingssysteem (ERS)
Maakt een snellere toegang tot een gewonde rijder mogelijk. Door aan de oranje lipjes te trekken die in de pads zijn geïntegreerd, vallen de wangkussentjes naar buiten. Dit maakt het makkelijker voor reddingswerkers om de helm te verwijderen. Dit vermindert het risico op verder letsel.
ECE R22-06
ECE R22 is de meest gebruikte internationale helmnorm, vereist door meer dan 50 landen wereldwijd. ECE R22-06 vereist een veel strengere testprocedure dan de vorige ECE R22-05 en omvat een schuine test om rotatie te meten.

The Tour-X5 is a completely redesigned helmet with many new features. As with all Arai products, protection is at the forefront of every improvement. And this new model brings us ever closer to the ideal Arai shape for rider protection.
One of the most comprehensive changes is the visor system. The new VAS-A visor system is derived from the VAS-V system developed for the RX-7V. It optimizes the gliding ability because it offers more surface area for the dissipation of impact energy. At the same time, it makes it easier to fit and remove the visor and peak. The visor has been redesigned to improve the field of vision and gliding ability. It is now a Max Vision visor so that a Pinlock insert can be easily installed. The new VAS-A visor system also makes it easier to change to one of the other visors without tools. You can choose between Adventure (long distance), Off-Road (off-road) and On-Road (road).
Other improvements include a completely new ventilation system. The Tour-X5 ventilation system is the second model to be equipped with the 3D logo channel, which was already introduced on the Quantic. Shell construction: PB-CLC2
The complex laminate construction increases the strength and flexibility of the shell while keeping the weight low and the center of gravity low. This band is located above the eye-opening and allows the use of a thinner EPS lining. This significantly improves the field of vision upwards. Using a specially developed “mechanically expanded fiberglass mat" between the inner and outer layers of Arai's proprietary superfiber laminates, these two superfiber layers are reinforced and bonded without making the helmet significantly heavier. The latest Z-Mixture resins increase material adhesion, so less resin is needed for a stronger bond between the materials. The helmet shell becomes thinner and lighter.
Variable Axis System A (A/VAS-A)
The new visor system makes it easier and quicker to change the visor. The visor can be fitted or removed without tools. The visor is fitted or removed with just one screw on each side. With the VAS, the visor attachment is lowered, resulting in an approx. 10 mm larger smooth shell surface in both temple areas. This achieves the ideal, smoother shape, which increases the gliding ability. The visor follows the line of the eye-opening on the helmet shell and has a continuous curvature. The result is a larger and clearer field of vision. The radius of the visor adapts to the shape of the helmet and ensures better glide.
Pinlock
Pinlock visors from Arai prevent the field of vision from fogging up while riding. The Pinlock glass is applied to a compatible visor, where it creates an ultra-thin double glazing.
3 configurations
You can choose between the Adventure (long-distance), Off-Road (off-road) and On-Road (road) settings when riding. No additional parts are required for the change. A more open field of vision makes it easier to wear glasses.
10 mm wider base
The exclusive shell has been widened by 5 mm on each side. The helmet is therefore 10 mm wider at the bottom and can be put on and taken off more easily.3D Arai logo channel
The new, only 3.5 mm large 3D Arai logo channel immediately catches the eye and supplies two central 10 mm large inlet openings underneath. This is the first time this channel has been used on an Arai helmet and is only possible due to the thickness and construction of the PB-CLC2 shell. It also works very well at low speeds and in an upright sitting position. At only 50 km/h it provides an additional airflow of 40%, at 120 km/h it is 7% compared to models without this channel. It can be easily opened or closed with summer or winter gloves using a short-stroke lever on the top. When the rider cannot see the lever and the logo is in its normal position, the channel is open. The Arai logo channel is designed to release on impact to improve slide-off performance.
Medium upper ventilation - intake
Low height with improved airflow. In the event of an impact, this center vent breaks away so as not to impair glide-off ability. The channel is a great improvement without compromising the character of an Arai helmet. The top vent has three positions - closed, semi-open and open - to adjust the airflow and prevent water from entering when closed.
Neck vent flaps
Direct warm and stale air out of the helmet. At the same time, this creates an increased air flow in the lower helmet area.
Rear ventilation/spoiler
The rear ventilation is integrated in the spoiler and is operated via a 3-way slider. The spoiler is inspired by the DF-X2 of the RX-7V Racing, but has been redesigned for touring use. (Nevertheless tested in Suzuka up to 300 km/h!) The spoiler sits a little further forward on the shell, the ventilation is fed from 3 connections in the shell. As part of the Quantic's comprehensive ventilation system, it not only draws in air efficiently, the spoiler also smoothes the airflow over (and from the side of) the helmet, which improves stability and reduces buffeting, especially during overtaking maneuvers at highway speeds. The result: significantly less fatigue for the rider. The vent/spoiler combination is designed to be as thin and light as possible so that it is crushed or breaks away in the event of an impact and therefore has no impact on the protective performance.
Air diffusers for the upper rear channel
The air-permeable center strut of the upper rear channel also serves as a goggle strap holder. The diffusers can be quickly and easily removed or replaced by removing a single screw on the rear channel center brace.
Side vents
Additional side vents in the lower part of the helmet remove warm and stale air from the helmet. Integrated into the shell construction, these outlets are aerodynamically optimized. A cleverly placed layer of special foam on the inside reduces wind noise without impairing ventilation performance.Double-D closure
The flat double-D fastener adapts gently to the user's head without getting in the way. No moving parts, no susceptibility to rust, a chinstrap that always fits snugly and the impossibility of opening it yourself are convincing arguments in favor of this type of closure.
Emergency Release System (ERS)
Enables quicker access to an injured rider. By pulling the orange tabs integrated in the pads, the cheek pads fall out. This makes it easier for rescuers to remove the helmet. This reduces the risk of further injuries.
ECE R22-06
ECE R22 is the most widely used international helmet standard, required by over 50 countries worldwide. ECE R22-06 requires a much stricter test procedure than the previous ECE R22-05 and includes an oblique test to measure rotation.
