Alle klimaatmembranen hebben dezelfde basisfunctie: ze beschermen het lichaam tegen vocht van buitenaf, houden wind buiten en transporteren zweet van binnen naar buiten door gebruik te maken van een temperatuurgradiënt. Dit geeft de kleding uitstekende eigenschappen op het gebied van bescherming tegen het weer en comfort.
Alle membranen zijn gemaakt van polyurethaan of polyester en transporteren waterdampmoleculen betrouwbaar naar buiten via een chemisch-fysisch proces langs moleculaire ketens. De niet-poreuze, homogene structuur laat geen wind door en voorkomt zo dat het lichaam afkoelt. Om een waterdichte constructie te garanderen, wordt elke individuele naad gelast met een speciale warmte-afdichtende tape, zodat er geen water van buitenaf door de naden kan binnendringen. Afhankelijk van het productmerk worden de membranen gemaakt van verschillende basismaterialen en meestal verwerkt als een losse film (“liner”) aan de binnenkant van jassen en broeken. Speciale materialen en specifieke verwerkingsrichtlijnen maken de membranen extreem duurzaam, rekbaar en zeer scheurbestendig.

All climate membranes have the same basic function: they protect the body from external moisture, keep out wind, and transport sweat from the inside to the outside by utilizing a temperature gradient. This gives the clothing excellent weather protection and comfort properties.
All membranes are made of polyurethane or polyester and reliably transport water vapor molecules to the outside via a chemical-physical process along molecular chains. The non-porous, homogeneous structure does not allow wind to penetrate, thus preventing the body from cooling down. To ensure a waterproof construction, each individual seam is welded with a special heat-sealing tape so that no water can penetrate from the outside through the seams. Depending on the product brand, the membranes are made from different base materials and are usually incorporated as a loose film (“liner”) on the inside of jackets and pants. Special materials and specific processing guidelines make the membranes extremely durable, stretchy, and highly tear-resistant.
