Tech-Air® Off-Road is een FIM gehomologeerd airbagsysteem dat speciaal is ontwikkeld voor de veeleisende omstandigheden van rally's en uitstekende bescherming biedt aan het bovenlichaam. Het Tech-Air® Off-Road systeem is sinds 2017 ontwikkeld en getest onder de zware omstandigheden van de Dakar Rally - de zwaarste off-road race ter wereld - en biedt state-of-the-art actieve airbagtechnologie voor off-road rijden. Het Tech-Air® off-road systeem met actieve airbag biedt niveau 1 bescherming voor de borst en rug, evenals extra bescherming voor de schouders, nek en sleutelbeen bij een ongeval. - De modusENDURO is geoptimaliseerd voor routes met lage en gemiddelde snelheden waarbij de gebruiker op onverharde oppervlakken zoals grind, rivierbeddingen, modder of ander natuurlijk terrein rijdt. Deze rijscenario's omvatten meestal meerdere richtingsveranderingen en het nemen van obstakels en heuvels bij lagere snelheden.

Functies

Tech-Air® Systeem tweejaarlijkse service en diagnose

Tech-Air® Off-Road is an FIM homologated airbag system that has been specially developed for the demanding conditions of rallies and offers outstanding upper body protection. Developed and tested since 2017 in the gruelling conditions of the Dakar Rally - the toughest off-road race in the world - the Tech-Air® Off-Road system offers state-of-the-art active airbag technology for off-road driving. The Tech-Air® off-road system with active airbag offers level 1 protection for the chest and back, as well as additional protection for the shoulders, neck and collarbone in the event of an accident. The system includes an Alpinestars off-road protective jacket equipped with level 1 passive full protection for the back and limbs, integrated arm protection and a level 2 passive full chest protector to better protect the rider from rocks, debris and other obstacles they may encounter on the trail. The system is robust enough to cope with any terrain. It also includes three pre-installed riding modes: ENDURO, RALLY and STREET, making it the perfect choice for any off-road or on-road riding.
- ENDURO mode is optimised for low and medium speed routes where the user is riding on unpaved surfaces such as gravel, riverbeds, mud or other natural terrain. These riding scenarios usually involve several changes of direction and negotiating obstacles and hills at lower speeds.
- RALLY mode is optimised for fast off-road action on any terrain and is recommended for rides characterised by longer straight sections with multiple bumps and different types of terrain, and which are ridden through at higher speeds, which is not the case in typical enduro competitions. Typical environments where these riding scenarios are prevalent are desert areas (with dunes and sandy soil), gravel and open landscapes.
- STREET mode is optimised for paved roads, including situations where the rider's motorbike is hit by another vehicle while stationary.
Features

- The Tech-Air® OFF-ROAD system features dual-charging capability, which means that with two full gas inflators, the system provides two separate airbag deployments as only one gas inflator is used to inflate the entire airbag system in an accident scenario
- A quick-opening cover allows for rapid replacement of the gas inflator by the user, this is only possible in countries where replacement of gas inflators by individuals is permitted by local regulations
- A fully self-contained, stand-alone system; 3 accelerometers (1 triaxial accelerometer) and 3 gyroscopes (1 triaxial gyroscope) are integrated into the electronic control unit (ECU) to provide the best crash monitoring performance and active airbag protection in a variety of dynamic off-road driving scenarios. No external sensors are required to operate the system
- The Tech-Air® OFF-ROAD system uses an integrated, certified lithium-ion battery, with a fully charged battery life of 30 hours and a charging time of about 4 hours; charging the battery for about 1 hour provides about 8 hours of driving time
- The LED display has an integrated charging port for convenient and easy charging of the system; simply plug the USB-C cable into the charging port on the system's LED display and connect it to a power source
- Easy to use; to switch on the Tech-Air® Off-Road System, simply close the system and it will automatically switch on and activate the airbag system. To deactivate the airbag, open the system and it will switch off automatically
- A special dispatch switch is located on the ECU which effectively puts the system into sleep mode when switched on. Only accessible when the electronic housing on the back protector is removed, the dispatch switch allows the battery to be disconnected from the system during transport or when the system is not being used for an extended period of time. The system is sold with the shipping mode switched on, make sure you switch off the shipping mode when you open the box and use the airbag system for the first time
- The electronic control unit (ECU) and the airbag of the Tech-Air® Off-Road System are completely removable so that the protective jacket can be washed separately

Following an airbag deployment this service is carried out by Alpinestars and will include: replacement of inflators and airbag, as well as a full system service, diagnostic check, as well as cleaning and washing of the garment.
