Rivets

detail

when an accident happens, the rider instinctively puts out his hands to protect himself. Long experience shows that the ball of the thumb is the most critical area of the glove. If the ball of the thumb is reinforced with leather only, this will lead to excessive deceleration, and fractured forearms. The fallen rider must be able to slide, and this is the function of the rivet patch. Attention to detail: when sliding along the tarmac, the rivets are subject to immense tearing forces, which tend to separate them from their leather backing. We use a special machine to flatten our rivets, so they are sunk into the leather. Behind the leather is a heat-proof layer of Nomex, which withstands temperatures of 800° C, to insulate the riderŽs hands from friction burns. Behind this is a layer of Kevlar to provide impact protection, and then the inner lining of the palm.
